batteriesAlkaline batteries, (dry cell) , AAA, AA, A, C, D & 9 volt are to be placed in the garbage with your regular household refuse due to the fact that mercury levels have been significantly reduced and fall within DEP standards.

Rechargeable (including watch, cell phone)

rechargeablebatteriesBatteries less than 2 lbs. can be disposed of at locations such as Ewing Recreation Building, Radio Shack, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Sears. Look for the drop off container.  The MCIA also supplies a Rechargeable Battery Drop-off Location list.

Mercer County Household Chemical Waste Disposal Days

All Lowes stores also participate in a free battery recycling program for batteries that you cannot include in your curbside pickup.    There is a collection bin at the front of each store.

All Home Depot  stores accept batteries for free recycling through their Eco-Options program.  There is an orange collection bin at the front of each store.

  1. Your website says that batteries can be dropped off at the Ewing Recreation Building. Could you please tell me where that is?

  2. As the COVID pandemic is still forcing the closing of government buildings, this is not a time when you can drop off recyclables. Look for the reopening of Ewing Township municipal buildings when the crisis eases up when normal processes can resume. The Recreation Building is the Ewing Senior and Community Center at 999 Lower Ferry Road.
