Guide To Recyclables – TVs and Other Entertainment Equipment

TVs  contain a number of materials that should be reused as well as a number of components that are hazardous in a landfill  including heavy metals such as lead, cadmium or mercury.

Recycle Drop Offs

Ewing residents can conveniently recycle TVs, VCRs, DVD players,  at any time during normal operating hours at:

Mercer County Improvement Authority
The MCIA accepts televisions and associated equipment such as VCRs, DVD players at their Hazardous Waste Disposal Days that are held three times each year.   Drop off is at:

The MCIA also holds combined E-Waste and Shred Events twice annually.  Drop off is at:

When you’re ready to get rid of your old television and other equipment, please select the REUSE option of the 3Rs.  Organizations that accept electronics donations include:

The Rescue Mission of Trenton will accept the following donations:

  • Working TVs – Due to the high cost of disposing of non-working televisions, their driver must see a TV in operation before accepting.
  • VCRs, DVD players, CD player, Boomboxes
  • They will not accept non working donations

Vietnam Veterans of America

Donations to this non profit organization helps to generate funds to take care of returning soldiers and service men and women.  They provides pickup (usually with 24 hours) for all types of goods including used computers and monitors.  Schedule an online donation pickup for almost anything small and light enough for the driver to carry.

The VVA will accept the following items:

  • Televisions, TVs – in Most Areas
  • VCRs, DVD players
  • Stereo, radio, boombox
  • Xbox, Nintendo, Playstation
