Instead of sending your old glasses to a landfill, consider finding a local eye glass donation bin where your used, unwanted glasses are repaired and given to someone who can not afford to purchase them on their own.  There are a number of organizations that accept your glasses for Reuse.

Lions Collection Boxes

You can drop off your usable eyewear at Lions-sponsored collection boxes in your community. Typical locations include libraries, schools, community centers, places of worship, coffee shops, optometrist offices and other public locations where communities socialize and get together.

You can also package your usable eyeglasses and mail them to the NJ Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center at:
